3. Gold-Filled Layer Ratios: For gold-filled items (marked GF), the fine-gold fraction equals the marked layer ratio multiplied by the karat purity of the layer (e.g., 1/20 12K GF = 1/20 × 12/24 = 0.025 or 2.5% fine gold).
4. Price-Data Retrieval & Benchmark Fallback: Live spot rates are retrieved from third-party market data feeds. If a live feed is unavailable or market trading is closed, the system displays a clearly labeled reference benchmark with separate checked timestamps rather than claiming live status.
5. Melt Value vs. Buyer Payouts: Theoretical melt value is not a guaranteed cash offer. Commercial buyer payments reflect refining fees, assay costs, smelting loss factors, and buyer margins.
